The Edmonton Jazz Festival Society is set to host its annual benefit event, Spring Spectacular, an evening of unforgettable jazz featuring Juno Award winning singer Emilie-Claire Barlow and the Edmonton Jazz Orchestra.
Emilie-Claire Barlow’s musical imagination sets her apart from her female jazz singer peers. The potent combination of well-honed vocal and musical chops and a charming stage presence has earned her a sizeable and loyal following worldwide. Emilie-Claire will treat guests to a performance with her trio (Jon Maharaj on bass and Amanda Tosoff on piano) and will later be joined by the Edmonton Jazz Orchestra (EJO), an professional 17-piece ensemble of stellar musicianship under the direction of Kent Sangster.
The Spring Spectacular will be emceed by William Bincoetto and provide guests with the option of attending solely as a concert-goer or to add a dinner component to their evening, enjoy a 3-course meal before the show. The event offers many elements for patrons to partake in, including both live and silent auctions. All proceeds of this event will be used in support the EJFS outreach initiatives, including: Jazzworks Workshops, Jazz In Schools, Edmonton Jazz Orchestra, and the Edmonton Jazz Collective. These initiates were developed by the Edmonton Jazz Festival Society to promote jazz in the community as well as support developing musicians.
